Privacy and cookies

Your images are never transmitted. The advertising that funds the site does set cookies. This page lists which ones, and how to refuse them.

Your files

Compression, PDF assembly and metadata reading all run in your browser. The images you drop are not uploaded, not stored, and not shared with any third party. They stay in the tab's memory for as long as you work on them and are gone when you close the page. There is nothing to delete, and nobody has access to them, the publisher included.

What the site does not collect

• No account, no form, no sign-up.
• No analytics cookie, no identifier, nothing that follows you from one page to the next or from one visit to the next.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records a line per request: the date, the address requested, the response code, the referring page, the browser's user-agent string, the country, and your IP address. That last one is personal data under the GDPR, so it is worth stating plainly rather than leaving it implied.

It is kept on the legitimate-interest basis, for the two things a log is for: diagnosing faults and identifying abuse. It is retained for seven days and then deleted, it is not used to build any profile, and it goes to no third party.

The usage count described below is deliberately kept separate and holds no IP address: measuring how often a tool works does not require knowing who used it.

Anonymous usage count

So that we can tell whether the tool is used and whether it works, the site's own server counts each image you drop and whether it came out fine or failed. That count records the page you were on, the size or dimension target you picked, the source format, the output format you chose, the before and after weights rounded to the nearest 10 KB, and the resulting quality. It never records your IP address, your file names, or anything from the image itself. The image never leaves your browser in the first place.

These figures cannot be tied back to a person or to a device, they are not combined with any other source, they go to no third party, and they serve only to measure the site's own audience.

Advertising and third-party cookies

The site is funded by Google AdSense. To serve ads, Google and its partners may set and read cookies on your device and process identifiers and browsing data, in order to display and measure ads, personalise them based on your visits to other sites, and fight fraud.

These operations are carried out by Google Ireland Limited and its partners. Some transfers may occur outside the European Union, framed by the mechanisms provided for by the GDPR.

Your consent

From the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent dialog appears before any non-essential advertising cookie is set. You can accept or refuse. The site stays fully functional either way; refusing simply makes the ads non-personalised. You can change your mind at any time through the consent management link, or by clearing the site's cookies. Refusing is as easy as accepting and restricts nothing.

Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection. The usage count above holds nothing that could identify you, so there is nothing on this side to give access to or erase; requests about advertising data must go to Google, via the links above.
