Thumbnails and list images
800 pixels is the size of a thumbnail, a forum avatar, an email illustration or a product image in a list. It loads instantly on any connection and weighs a fraction of a full-size photograph.
It is also the fallback when a form imposes a tight pixel box and a tight weight at the same time. At 800 px, reaching even 100 KB costs little.
Email attachments
Mail servers still reject large messages, and a handful of untouched phone photos will pass 25 MB. Resizing to 800 px turns the same set into a few hundred kilobytes total, which arrives everywhere.
Drop the whole batch at once: each image is processed separately and the download-all button returns them together, keeping their original names with a -resized suffix.
